April Stamping Symphony Blog Hop - Its SPRING!!!!

I have to say that the Fable Friends stamp set from the 2019 Occasions Catalogue screams cuteness to me.  There is something about this stamp set that just makes my heart happy.  So I just had to play with it for this months spring themed blog hop.
The beautiful Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper from the annual catalogue has been sitting on my paper rack and not getting very much attention from me (I think secretly I am scared because it is so fine and beautiful, I don't want to destroy it!).  So, I faced my fear and got out my daubers and made two cards with one piece of the DSP!!!  Quite honestly, there was nothing to be scared of :).

I took a 3 3/4 by 5 piece of whisper white cardstock and carefully taped using washi tape the flowered image from the DSP.  Using balmy blue,  blushing bride, pear pizzaz, highland heather and so saffron I sponged the flowers and leaves and border.  I taped it so that it wouldn't move.  Once I was happy with the sponging, I carefully removed the washi tape and that left me with the colored detailed DSP which made the background for the first card and the negative which made the background for the second thank you card.  As gluing the fine paper can be a bit messy, I ended up using my silicon sheet and a dauber and daubed tombow on the paper...worked beautifully and easy to clean up and it didn't leave a mess of glue on the card stock!

I then stamped the images on whisper white card stock with memento and went to work coloring with my blends.  These were then fussy cut out and popped up.

Hope you enjoyed these spring cards! Make sure you hope on over to the other blogs of Stamping Symphony to see what the other talented ladies have designed.  A complete list of materials can be found below.

Press N Seal Technique

After watching Jennifer McGuire's and Bruno (Kylie) Bertucci's videos on the Press N Seal Technique I had to try it out. So, it definitely wasn't as easy as they make it look in the videos! I had issues with the press n seal being too sticky and it ended up ripping some of the DSP or the colored images.  However, it worked much better when I took the press n seal and put it against my jeans (like you would lint paper) and then used the embossing buddy on the sticky side to coat it a bit.  You still have to be very careful.  But it is a really neat effect.   You remove the press n seal from the cardstock and pop up each of the pieces with dimensionals.  Then you carefully place it on the frame and gently (very gently and slowly) pull away the press n seal...and voila!!

The first card I used the so cute Fable Friends from the 2019 Occasions Catalogue. Love this set. It is so darn cute.  I stamped them in memento ink and colored with my blends.  I used my scan n cut to cut out the images, but you could fussy cut them if you are more patient than I am :).  I randomly placed them on a 4 by 5 1/4 piece of soft sea foam cardstock and when I was happy with the coverage I gently placed the press n seal (after getting rid of some of the stickiness) over them.  Using the stitched rectangles I cut out a center piece making a frame.  Unfortunately, I couldn't make a second card as I ended up ripping the bunny when I was trying to take it off :(.

I then tried it using butterflies from the botanical butterfly DSP that was available as a Sale A Bration Item.  Love this card.  Will have to do some more and maybe try some different colors.

I used the middle part on the same card and just had a contrast with white instead of making two cards.

What do you think?
