Stamping Symphony April Bloghop - Retiring Favorite

Last weekend I attended on stage with many members of the Stamping Symphony team and we were able to get our hands on the new annual catalogue which comes into effect June 1 2018.  So many beautiful things and exciting changes to Stamping up!!! But with all good things, there are some sad things too and that was the release of the retiring list.  A few of my "go to" stamps were on this list:(.  I think my favorite one that is retiring is Butterfly Basics.  So I thought I would have a last play with the bundle.  Although I am very sad to have this bundle retiring, we are bringing back my absolute favorite color  BLACKBERRY BLISS.  So goodbye and hello are part of my card for this month's blog hop.
To do this card, I used watercolor paper and the Sweet soiree decorative masks.  I applied embossing paste and while it was still wet, I sprinkled the Prussian Blue and Brilliant Red Brusho crystals and spritzed with water.  I took the mask off and very quickly washed it!!!  It is a neat effect.  Although you can't really tell in this picture, once the design was dry, I added some wink of stella (clear) to the designs to give it a little sparkle.  The small butterfly on the label also had some wink of stella applied for some subtle bling.  I layered the butterfly cut out with dazzling diamond glimmer paper (which is also sadly retiring) and blackberry bliss just to add some dimension.  The inside is just simply stamped.  I am sad to see that blackberry bliss is not one of the new blends being released in June. Hopefully it will be added soon!!!

See the bottom of this post for the materials used.  I've also added a few other cards that I have made over the years with this stamp set and thinlets.  What is your favorite retiring item?

On-Stage Local Swap - Black Ice

So, I decided to try the black ice technique that Leena Girsa showed us during our team meeting for my swap cards for on-stage in London Ontario.  Here is the card...such a beautiful look, it is hard to capture in pictures, and really easy to do!!!

For the base of the card, I used the brick wall embossing folder and then took my archival black stamp pad (stazon would work too) directly to the paper and lightly pulled it down the card from the top to the bottom to get some accents on the bricks.  The black ice used technique used the same approach, but on silver foil paper. The trick is to keep your finger prints off the foil because it will add some "interesting textures (i.e., your finger prints) to the card.  I put very little black streaks on the foil paper, but you can add as many as you wish.  After that I stamped the image I wanted.  After the ink was dry (I used my heating tool as I had to make 50 of these cards), you take your versa mark ink pad and VERY lightly pull it down your foil paper too the same way you did the black ink. You don't want to press too hard or you will not get the ice look, but will just get a full clear emboss.  Then you emboss with clear embossing powder and heat set....very easy and really stunning results!!!

I had so much fun yesterday at On-stage and was able to swap my cards with many talented demonstrators!!!
