Stamping with Jen Music From the Heart

Happy Sunday!! I cannot believe how beautiful it is outside.  The sun is shining and it is warm...I think Spring is teasing us.

I was inspired by a card by Michele Wright (see her card here) and had a good play with the Music from the Heart Stamp set in the 2020 Mini Catalogue.

I love this stamp set.  Anyway back to my card :).  What do you think? It is such an easy card to make.

For the inside, I kept it really simple.

This card is very simple to make.  For a complete list of supplies see below.  The card dimensions are as follows:

  • Basic black cardstock 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
  • Two pieces of whisper white 5 1/4 X 4
  • 7 or 8 pieces of basic black a3/8 X 3 inches
  • One piece of basic black 5 1/4 X 3 inches, cut with the curved line from In The Woods
  • small piece of whisper white for the sentiment
To make the keyboard, place whisper white cardstock with the 5 1/4 inch along the top and score every 1/2 inch.  Go over score line with black Stampin' Write marker.

Place the keys and the piano top and adhere using tombow.

Stamping with Jen! A Meer Thank You

I had a friend ask if I could make/donate some cards to send to the Canadian Military that are stationed outside of Canada.  Her two sons are in the Military, both still stationed in Canada, but could be deployed within the year.  My nephew is also new to the military and is currently stationed in Petawawa.  I thought it was a great idea to send members of our military that are abroad a card, but then ....what to say?? What do you say to someone that is putting their life at risk for their country. That lives away from home for their country...for your country.  It is quite humbling and quite difficult.  But this is what I have come up with so far.  This will be my project for a while.  If you want to join me, you can send me some of your cards and I can make sure they get in the hands of our deployed troops.

I did two cards in this video, one using blends (the Meercats) and one using ink (Someone Special).  For both, I used the sponge brayer and applied soft suede ink to the stone 3D embossing folder before embossing my paper.  What a cool effect.  Here is the first card using the Gang's All Meer.

Here is a closer look.  What a cool effect.  It makes the background just pop! I colored the meercat with the crumb cake blends, the lizard with old olive blends and the cactus with grannyapple green blends.

For the inside, I used my stamparatus and some good old scotch tape for the sentiment.  Some people cut their stamps, but I don't have the nerve to do that, so if I have a sentiment that I only want part of, I mask with tape (watch the video to see what I mean).

I used the same design, but switched it up using the Special Someone stamp set and the coordinating dies (that are available until March 31st or while supplies last) called Special Day Dies (item # 153587).

Which one do you like better?

Please watch and share my You Tube video posted below.  If you would like to purchase the supplies needed to make these cards and you live in Canada see below for the supply list for both cards.  The first one is for the Gang's All Meer and the second supply list is for the Special Someone.
