Well this is the last month of Kylies training :(, and my last hop of this years training program. I have learned so much and have had an amazing year! Thanks Kylie and Bruno, you guys are awesome!!!
I decided to try the Scrappy Strip Technique that was introduced by Bruno Bertucci! Thanks Bruno for the inspiration (you can see his video on the link above).
Scrappy Strip technique meets shaker card meets Snowflake Splendor Suite. I think it works, what do you think?
Here is a closer look.
A complete list of supplies are shown below. Here are some simple instructions and measurements so you can make this card too!!!
Paper and Dimensions
- Night of Navy card base 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 Scored at 4 1/4
- Night of Navy first layer 4 X 5 1/4, run through the embossing machine with the Winter Snow Embossing Folder
- Whisper white - 5 1/2 X 4 1/4 for layering the strips on
- Whisper white - 4 X 5 1/4 (inside panel)
- Whisper white - large enough for the label and cut out using the Stitched Nested Label Dies
- Snowflake Splendor Designer Series paper - randomly cut strips, wider at one end than the other of all the patterns. I kept them 5 1/2 By 4 1/4 long.
- Window sheet Cut in a rectangle large enough to fit behind the cut out of the strip layer (using so many snowflake dies)
Instructions
1. Cut out cardstock as described above
2. Cut strips of DSP and layer on whisper white panel that is 51/2 X 4 1/4. Adhere with multipurpose glue. Start at one side and get first strip square with the edge, then randomly add strips, leaving a small space between. Let glue dry then trim panel to 5 1/4 X 4. Watch Bruno's video (link above) for some more tips and tricks for this stage.
3. Position the label die from the So Many Snowflakes die in the centre of the card (landscape) and die cut out.
4. Adhere window sheet to back of cut out with adhesive of your choice.
5. Stamp sentiment using Night of Navy ink on Whisper White die cut.
6. On embossed Night of Navy First Layer, position the stamped sentiment in the centre of the card (I positioned the strippy layer where I wanted it on the Night of Navy Cardstock and just adhered the label in the opening). Adhere with adhesive of choice.
7. Place the foam adhesive strips in a rectangle just larger than the window on the Night of Navy embossed layer. Remove protective paper so it is sticky and ready to adhere.
8. Place Snowflake sequins (or whatever you are using inside the shaker) within the rectangle and carefully place the Strippy front on top so that it is centred on the Night of Navy embossed layer.
9. Adhere to card base.
10. Stamp sentiment on inside panel and adhere inside using adhesive of your choice.
11. Cut out snowflakes in Balmy Blue glimmer paper. If desired, colour with Night of Navy Blends to make darker. Adhere to card front.
